About me

I’m Phoebe Cullingworth (aka Phoebe Apollo) a community organiser with a range of passions (obsessions?) and life long commitments. I spend lots of time getting funding to where it should be, redistributing power and resources. I’m also a trained urban gardener, and care deeply about public green spaces and improving people’s access to nature. I currently work part time for the local council in the parks team improving biodiversity and tree cover.

Take a look at WILD QUEERS- sessions where I share what we can learn from nature to fuel collective liberation.

Han Gunji‘s illustration on radical health, justice and healing using the cute metaphor of mutually beneficial plants. These ideas really sum up my practice which feels rooted in community building, collective healing and mutal aid, prioritising care and joy!

Disability justice principles are foundational to how I think and organise. My partner is disabled, and being their essential companion is a central part of my life. This continuously shapes my work, fuels my resistance to capitalist urgency and my commitment to world building rooted in solidarity. I am a lived experience advocate for several panels where I share experiences of unpaid carers and try to improve health and care systems. I am deeply grateful to my partner, and to the disabled, trans, queer, Black and Brown organisers who lead the way and have come before us.
