WILD QUEERS is a series of guided sessions exploring moments of slow joy in nature. I usually run these sessions during Pride month in urban environments, highlighting pavement plants, hidden meadows and mini woodlands. I aim to create an intentional space of community care, where we learn from each other and see how nature can nourish and sustain us.
The sessions are LGBTQIA+ centred, with allies welcome too. I’m a queer urban gardener, and I retrained so that I could be outside more. I now work part time for my local council taking care of trees and increasing biodiversity. I find that being in nature helps fuel me to continue to fight for collective freedom. In return, I want to support people in feeling more connected to our surroundings. I'm particularly passionate about creating space for queer folk and others who may feel less comfortable or less able to access public open spaces.
